01 — The story
short, because the work is the point
Why "forward deployed"
and not just "developer".
I started taking on client work in 2017, building Laravel applications for teams that were rarely in the same country as me. The first lesson arrived quickly: a feature is not done when the code is written. It is done when it runs in the customer's environment, their team can use it, and the problem it was built for has gone.
That lesson shaped everything after it. I stopped thinking of myself as someone who ships features to a backlog and started thinking of myself as someone who gets deployed to a problem. The work went deeper into the customer's systems: legacy rebuilds that took a page from 3,982 database queries to 52, a multi-tenant SaaS that provisions a new tenant in thirty minutes, a domain registry driven entirely from its own admin, storefronts and commissions platforms for small businesses.
Along the way I learned that most companies do not need more software; they need the software they already have to be faster, smarter and better understood. That is why this site talks about dashboards, AI features and upgrades as much as new builds, and why the first ten hours on an existing system are free. You should judge the work on something real.
I work remotely from Ahmedabad, in English, Hindi and Gujarati, with working hours that overlap the whole European day and every North American morning. For larger builds I bring in a vetted team of fifty-plus people I have worked with before, nine in ten of them with more than ten years' experience. The person you talk to is still me, and still the one who writes the code.
